10 Months Old

Mr. Logan hit the ripe old age of 10 months yesterday – I can’t believe I already need to start planning his 1st birthday party!  It will be here before we know it.  I only got one good shot of him for this month’s age sign photo shoot – he’s just too quick for me these days!

Here are some additional shots of the boys doing some of their favorite things: playing at the park (Liam) and eating pinto beans and socks (Logan).

8 Months Old and Late Winter Fun

Tax season has been keeping me super busy lately, otherwise I would have posted sooner about all of the fun we’ve been having over the past month!

First things first: our littlest man (who isn’t so little anymore) reached the ripe old age of 8 months last week.  Here’s the picture to prove it:

He is so precious.  Such a sweet, sweet, feisty baby.  And lately, Logan has taken to wrestling with his older brother, Liam, which is a complete riot because Logan really can hold his own despite the two year age difference…that does not bode well for Liam.

Here are some other pictures taken outside this past month on these mild winter days we’ve been having (the last one of Logan’s toothy grin just melts me):

7 Months Old and Liam’s Snow Day

Our baby turned 7 months old last week.  And along with that, he started sitting up on his own and sprouted his first teeth!  I haven’t been able to capture any good teeth pictures yet, but I will – those first toothy grins are so adorable!

We finally had our first big snow storm of 2012, and Liam was so excited to get bundled up to go play outside with Daddy!  He was quite a trooper and lasted about an hour out there  - and was none too excited to come inside for lunch – he could have stayed out there all day, frozen cheeks and all!  Note that in the first picture below, Liam is sporting a Hitler-like mustache, courtesy of a tumble down the stairs at school.

Book Review: “Delivering Happiness” by Tony Hsieh

I finally got around to finishing the book I started sometime in March 2011 on a recent business trip to New Jersey – there’s nothing like a good long flight for catching up on reading!  It’s a great book and a fairly quick read, but it took me forever to get through because of Logan’s arrival and the kitchen renovation.

Love this book – I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good non-fiction title.  Think self-help meets business case studies.  I’m a sucker for these types of books.  If you read and liked “Switch” (Heath Brothers) or “The Tipping Point” (Malcolm Gladwell), you’ll also enjoy Hseih’s “Delivering Happiness”.  It’s essentially a history of Zappos.com as told through Tony’s eyes (the CEO of that infamous online shoe store), though there are quite a few side stories from Tony’s life mixed in to make it a really solid and entertaining read.

The ending of the book is what prompted me to write a blog post reviewing it – I was pleasantly surprised by the way Tony wrapped up his story about how Zappos came to be.  He cleverly incorporated a short but impactful lesson on happiness and the science and psychology behind that state of mind we all strive to achieve.  By doing this, he makes “Delivering Happiness” a book that will hit home with everyone from stay-at-home moms to CEOs.  At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: sustained happiness.  And this book successfully piqued my interest in the subject – I just might have to check out some of Tony’s other reading suggestions on happiness.  And buy my next pair of shoes from www.zappos.com:)
